"In search of lost gardens" is the name of the guided walks that I have created in order to discover the plant heritage of Vouvray. Between the middle of the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century, some private gardens of Vouvray were filled with beautiful ornamental plant collections, now lost.
Which plants were fashionable at that time? How were the gardens ornamented and designed?
I will answer these questions during the walk through the description, the reconstitution and the use of historical documents. Depending on the availability of the owners, we might have the chance, sometimes, to enter the gate of one of those private gardens. An illustrated notebook will be lent to each visitor and we will share some fruit juices at the end of the promenade.
These guided walks are probably better for people who are interested in ornamental plants, gardens and their history.
Comfortable walking shoes recommended.
Groups of 4-10 people maximum, one-hour walk in the center of Vouvray, 2 different routes depending on the day (Le Chêneau n°1, Les Terrasses n°2).
The pre-reservation is required and can be done online through this website (see below) or through the website of the Tourist Office of Montlouis-Vouvray.
